Canadian Geography: Western Cordillera?

Answer any or all of the following questions PLEASE. I have a project and many websites have absolutely no information at all.
1. When and how was the Western Cordillera created?
2. What are the resources and land uses of the Western Cordillera? (eg. minerals, oil, agriculture, recreation, fishing, forestry, etc.)
3. Name some characteristics of the Western Cordillera. (eg. climate, population, etc.)
4. How old are the St. Elias mountains?

Also, include any other information that you think may be important to a project.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! THIS WILL BE A BIG HELP TO ME AS I COULDN’T FIND MUCH OF THIS STUFF! :)
3.
Also, I live in Canada so if you have information that only affects the USA then I probably can’t use it because my teacher is a canada fanatic. AGAIN, THANK YOU SO MUCH! THIS WILL BE A HUGE HELP BECAUSE I CAN’T FIND ANYTHING ON THE WEB!!

There you go…a Google Search for "Western Cordillera" resulted in this page.

Beyond that, I’ll let you do the reading yourself. :D

Can I get into highly selective colleges?

Hi,
I’m Korean and I’ve been attending a boarding school in Quebec (canada) for five years.

I’m currently in grade 11 (Junior) and I’d like to know if I can get into ivys and highly competitive colleges in the States.
I want to major in International Relations or Urban Studies in college and I’d like to apply for: Columbia, Harvard, Princeton, Skidmore, Georgetown, NYU, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Brown and UPenn.
Here are some of my test scores/GPA/extracurricular activities.

1. I’m perfectly bilingual (English and Korean) and can speak/read/understand French (got 780 on the SAT II French exam)

2. I got 2310 on the SATs (Math-800, Reading-750, Writing-760)

3. I’m self-studying APMacro/Microeconomics and APHuman Geography right now because my school only offers APs in grade 12. (And I’m planning on taking APChemistry, Political Science and English)

4. I got 800 on my SAT Subject Math level II, 780 on Chem and 800 on World History

5. Feel extremely confident about my recommendation letters/reference from the university adviser

6. Duke of Edinburgh Award (Bronze, Silver and Gold) Participant (If you don’t know what it is, it is an internationally recognized award given to a person qualified in four categories, such as Physical Recreation, Residential Project, Community Service and Skill) and Gold is extremely (almost impossible) to get before graduating from high school.

7. Now moving onto my GPA, My average last year was 90 and the year before was 89. This might sound pretty mediocre, but I was in top 1% of my grade (Because Quebec Education System isn’t so lenient)
So, it’d be about 3.9 on a 4.0 scale.

8. Moving onto my activities (My fav part!) I am…
- Head of Choir
- Lead Flute in Band
- Captain of canadian Cadet Corps (The highest rank in band)
- Head of AIDS Awareness Committee (Warning students/staff about STIs and AIDS)
- Head of Amnesty International (Human rights group, sending letters to various prisons/camps in the world)
- House Captain (Basically a Dormitory leader)
- Trying out to be a School Prefect (Almost like a Senior President)

So, what do you think? I need your opinions!! Thanks :)
Yeah I think you definitely could! You’ve done amazingly academically, and you have great activities and you’ve won lots of awards. And you’re part of a minority, which adds diversity to the school.
Applying to college is expensive (there’s an application fee with every college you apply to) so I would choose which colleges to apply to carefully. Research their programs and social scenes (there’s a great website called unigo.com that has information on the social life, city, people, academics and sports, etc.) Also take into account the tuition–can you get financial aid? Are you able to pay for most of it?
Talk to your school counselor about what schools could be a good fit for you.

Mt Loki 360 - West Kootenay, BC, Canada

A party of 8 went up to celebrate a 60th birthday. Most of us had not done the climb before. I would recommend it in late August. There were no bugs then and great views. Due to recent improvements to road in and trail, there were a lot of people there that weekend. Everyone from parents with children (not very young toddlers) to our own 60 year old guy. A couple with dogs had to turn around. Bring extra water as there’s none available. Some might want to camp just above the trees and return the next day.
