I am expecting a package from Canada Post. I tracked it and it was marked as "out for delivery" at 9:15 this morning and it still says the same and it is 4:10. It has not been delivered. I really need the package!
How late does canada Post deliver parcels during the week?
What happens if the driver did not have time to deliver it today? Can you pick it up at a post office tonight?

The post office have regular open hours, but at the end of tour for the postman if there are any parcels they he brings back with him a notification should have been left to inform the customer as to the reason and they could go pick up the item the next day or request it be redelivered. The post office is in the business of delivering each days post, but it may take more time in this season than normal because of the volume of post and mail. If you didn’t receive your post at all or a notice about it. Call your local post office give them your address and tell them you were expecting a package and the information in tracking it stated it was "out for delivery" though you never got it. I hope it wasn’t dropped at the wrong address. Good luck!

I met someone in Ecuador while vacationing. She is 24, and has limited financial resources. I would like her to come live in Canada. Your best bet is to get married. That should give her an automatic visa. If you’re not willing to do that yet, you can try finding her a job in canada, so she could get a work visa. Or she can try to get a tourist visa (this is easier said than done, though), which will allow her up to 6 months. You should know, though, that even those with visas can be refused entry. I know people who’ve been in the airport in Miami with a visa, but the customs agent didn’t believe them, and they were returned to Peru. It’s really unfair.

If she does make it into Canada with the tourist visa, I hate to say it, but the best way for her to be able to stay is just to… stay illegally. Find her a job where they don’t check immigration status, and if you guys work out, eventually marry her. There’s no easy way.

The Commonwealth is now really a historical entity. If you want to move to the UK or another former British Colony, you have to apply for a visa, just like any other foreigner. The UK is a member of the European Union, and has economic ties to Europe, rather than its former empire.

In general, immigration law is complex, with specific requirements for admission. To get a work permit in a developed country, you need a skill or profession which is in demand, with too many job openings to be filled by the host country’s own citizens. Requirements for admission may include university level education, certification in a profession and relevant experience. You may also need a job offer from an employer in the host country. You may well be admitted on a work permit, which is valid for a few years, maximum; then you have to leave. Getting permanent residence can be difficult. You may also be able to get in by marrying a local person, but the procedures are often still complex and time consuming.

Some exceptions:
- you have citizenship in a European Union country - for the UK. If one of your parents of grandparents was a UK citizen, you may be able to stay there and work for a while.
- you have citizenship in the country you want to go to.
- some countries - the UK and Australia, I think - allow young adults to live and work for a year in their country.
- you are a post secondary student or receiving special training. (This may not be a good idea, at the undergraduate level: all developed countries have good universities, but financial aid is going to be made available to citizens.)
